We are a large and thriving school: a happy, hard-working community, with our children at the core. 

We have a whole-child approach to teaching and learning. This means we strive not only for the high academic standards we consistently achieve, but also for the development of each child’s social, emotional, behavioural, moral and communicative skills too.

We offer a carefully structured, varied and exciting curriculum designed to engage and enthuse our learners, inspiring them, we hope, to begin a lifelong thirst for discovery and knowledge.

We want to open their minds to knowledge and skills, and their eyes to “awe and wonder,” through the experiences we give them. We are encouraging them to be inquisitive, creative and confident people.

We are very lucky to be set within a beautiful part of the London Borough of Bexley, in Bursted Wood. Our children benefit from being surrounded by nature as well as close to local amenities and transport routes into London.

Our staff team are dedicated, talented and enthusiastic about providing the best primary education we possibly can. Our Governing Body is committed to continual review and constructive challenge in order that we maintain high standards and effectively identify and rectify areas for improvement.

As a Stand-Alone Academy, it is incredibly important that we are outward facing - seeking and  engaging with links to the Local Authority and a wide network of schools in our area and beyond. This offers us expertise, educational opportunities and enrichment possibilities.

Children deserve the highest quality teaching and learning experiences to enable them to begin their learning journey effectively. We treat all our children as individuals, recognising that they all have differing needs. Success is best achieved when there is a partnership between home and school; we pride ourselves on our commitment to communication and inclusion, and we value the important contributions parents make to their child’s education.

We also firmly believe that children need to feel safe and happy in order to learn. Bursted Wood is a place where every child is valued and treasured. Equality is essential, and through living by our motto of "care and respect," trust grows such that our children feel able to express themselves, take risks and develop into young people who are ready for their next stage of education.
