Bursted Wood Primary School has been awarded the National Thinking Classrooms GOLD Award in recognition of our commitment to embedding enquiry learning across the curriculum. This is a significant achievement for our school community, and we want to take a moment to celebrate this success together!

As the Thinking Classrooms coach for Bursted Wood School, I’ve been impressed by their commitment to embedding enquiry learning across the curriculum. The nine staff members I worked with were consistently engaged and positive about the use of philosophical enquiry skills in their classroom.

At Bursted Wood, our project aimed to help students move from passive learning to active learning, promoting inclusion and encouraging risk-taking among high-achieving students.

The teachers embraced new ways of thinking about open and closed questioning to achieve this. The school’s proactive use of the tools and their reflective evaluations highlight their dedication to sustaining and evolving this approach.
